This is Tamworth
On Thursday 3rd July 2014 many of Tamworth's most talented performers made the journey to Birmingham's prestigious Symphony Hall for a once in a lifetime opportunity to tread the boards of one of Europe's finest concert halls.
The aim of the performance was to tell the story of Tamworth, the people and the place, through a creative piece of Theatre, Dance and Music documenting pinnacle moments in Tamworth's history. It was a celebration of what Tamworth has on offer and all the creative work that is done here.
Singers of all ages, actors, dancers, poets and arts groups from across the town performed "This Is Tamworth" - a spectacular showcase that put the community centre stage.
Brought together by Tamworth Borough Council's Arts and Events team, working in partnership with musical director Gladstone Wilson, the project highlighted the talent and community spirit that exists in the town.
Groups and individuals that represent the various strands of the arts in Tamworth came together to create a powerful, moving and funny night of theatre, music, song and dance.
"This Is Tamworth" was made up of six themes; The Coal Mining Industry, Powerful Women, Positive Tamworth, Remembrance and Significant Buildings, People and Places. Each group created their own unique interpretation of the themes.
