Hundred’s vote for this year’s Outdoor Cinema film choices

Almost 1,000 movie lovers have voted to decide the two films that are shown at this year’s popular Outdoor Cinema in Tamworth Castle Grounds.

Votes were cast online and via social media after members of the public were invited to choose from a shortlist the films they would most like to see on a big screen in the great outdoors this summer.

The winning movies have now been revealed as Bohemian Rhapsody, which came out on top with 232 votes for the earlier 9pm slot, to be followed by a showing of Beetlejuice at 11.55pm, chosen by 85 people.

The community of Tamworth united for an extra special Remembrance Day event, marking 100 years since the end of World War One.
Thousands of people came into Tamworth town centre on Sunday, November 11 to pay their respects; lining the streets to support an extended parade and gathering in the Castle Grounds as choirs sang and poppy confetti was fired into the air.
We Will Remember was organised by Tamworth Borough Council’s Arts & Events team to round off four years of special events in honour of the World War One years.

Kids enjoy lantern workshops ready for Christmas parade

Youngsters enjoyed a series of free drop-in workshops during half-term, where they made special lanterns to carry in this year’s Christmas Lantern Parade in Tamworth.
The parade of children walking through the Castle Grounds carrying glow stick lanterns is a key part of the town’s annual Christmas Lights Festival and will make its way to St Editha’s Square in time for the switching on of the lights on Sunday, November 25.
All children across the town have been invited to take part in the parade and help launch the festive season in style.

Thousands enjoy ‘the greatest show’ at Tamworth’s free fireworks event

Thousands of people packed into Tamworth Castle Grounds for the 10th annual free fireworks extravaganza with many people hailing it the best event to date.
Estimated crowds of more than 26,000 visited the town for Saturday’s spectacular, where they were treated to fire performers, fairground rides, walkabout characters, face painting, music played by Touch FM, food stalls and a surprise ‘Greatest Showman’ theme.

Rich history of Tamworth Assembly Rooms revealed in new touring exhibition

A digital exhibition showcasing almost 130 years of Tamworth Assembly Rooms’ history has gone on tour in the town.
The exhibition features old photographs, memories, press cuttings, flyers and historic architect drawings, as well as ambitious redevelopment plans for the iconic theatre’s next 130 years.
Members of the public are invited to view the display, which is stored on a tablet, as it tours various locations throughout the town, and share their own memories of the building at the heart of the community.
